Must Online Businesses (online education) register to do business in each state where they have customers?
We would like to start up an Online Business, but we are unsure what we need to do regarding registering in other states. We are going to form an LLC in New York, but all of our business will be conducted via the Internet (online education). Do we need to register with each state in which we have a customer?
We will be providing tutoring services via the Internet (online education).
You don’t. The whole point of LLCs is registering with the state once and then doing business around the US. If you have retail presence, you must register to pay sales taxes.
